Lina Permut Joins the NMC Board of Trustees

We are thrilled to introduce Lina Permut, one of two new members of the NativityMiguel Coalition Board of Trustees. Lina currently serves as the Chief Development Officer at The Washington School for Girls in Washington, DC and brings a wealth of experience in development and fundraising within international, national, and local nonprofit organizations.

Lina is enthusiastic about the new role, saying, "I am thrilled to join the NativityMiguel Coalition Board of Trustees. Their mission of advancing the impact of their member schools is incredibly impactful, and I look forward to contributing my time, talents, and treasure to support their important work. As a board member, I'm excited to lend my expertise and passion for helping further the Coalition's efforts to advance the narrative of our collective impact on education worldwide, building stronger connections throughout our member schools, and expanding our knowledge and efforts to be rooted in DEIJ (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice)."

We look forward to Lina's contributions and leadership as we continue strengthening the outcomes of our member schools. Her dedication to supporting NMC's initiatives is a perfect match for our mission and vision, and we are excited to see the impact of her contributions.

Freddy A. Taveras, NativityMiguel Alum Joins the New-York Historical Society

While at the NYC Department of Education's Office of the General Counsel, Freddy established lasting connections with New-York Historical, a long-standing partner and educational resource for NYC public school students and teachers. Upon hearing about the opportunity to serve as their first-ever full-time general counsel, he was excited to pursue that path.

A lifelong New Yorker, growing up on the streets of the Lower East Side, Freddy was able to experience the transformation power of education largely thanks to the Jesuits at Nativity Mission School, the first school of what is now NativityMiguel Coalition. Meet Dr. David Palank- President of San Miguel School of Washington, DC

I joined San Miguel School in 2007, and in my years as a teacher and principal, I witnessed hundreds of young men thrive under our care. It is now my profound honor to serve as President. I have dedicated my professional life to our mission because I’ve seen the transformative impact a San Miguel education has on our students’ lives.

Our model provides students with a high-quality middle school education that fosters skills that will continue to serve them into the future. We now have 425 graduates who have gone on to distinguish themselves in high school, college, and their careers, and our results speak for themselves:

100 percent of San Miguel students are accepted into competitive independent college-preparatory high schools with financial aid.

100 percent of our alumni graduate from high school, compared to a high school graduation rate of 49% among disadvantaged Latino males.

90 percent of San Miguel alumni who graduated from high school in 2024 proceeded to college, compared to a college enrollment rate of 27% among Latino males.

These statistics show the powerful impact that we've made as an organization. But of course, the best way to see our impact is through the stories of our individual students: where they begin, the triumphs they experience in school and their careers, and the impact they make in their communities.

Whether you are looking for an excellent and affordable private school for your son or you are seeking an opportunity to invest your time or treasure for maximum impact, I invite you to learn more about San Miguel School. Live Jesus in our Hearts … Forever!
