NMC 2024 Art & Essay Contest

This year, for the NMC Art & Essay Contest we are encouraging each member school to have their own, internal contest before submitting any work to the NMC for review.  We hope this process will excite students and provide a fun way for them to express how attending an NMC school has influenced their academic or social experience.  This can also provide member schools with additional student and alumni materials for marketing and communications.

UPDATE: The flyers linked below provide the contest topics from which students can choose to compete.  Each flyer has been updated to include the overall theme for the contest, with questions specifically tailored for students who wish to enter the Essay or Art contest, respectively.

We have also included a scoring rubric, upon which you can base your judging, for your convenience. The submission date of April 12th is a suggestion, not a requirement.  You can have your contest and internal judging end sooner or later than that date, as long as your top 3 winners per category- Essay and Art- are submitted to @Roslynn Jackson by May 1, 2024.

We will be selecting a student winner and a graduate/alumni winner per category- Essay and Art for the overall Coalition contest.  So, you may do the same in your internal contest should you have enough entries to do so.  The structure of your school’s contest can be modified to fit your timeline and student participation level.  Just remember that NMC Leadership will make the following awards:

Please confirm that your school will conduct its own Art & Essay contest through this form.

Important Reminders: (UPDATE) Student submissions should include a quick statement indicating what topic they have chosen. When you submit your school’s top 3 contest winners, please be sure that each submission includes a teacher/staff point of contact with an email address and the student’s most current email so that both parties are notified regarding winning projects.

Thank you so much for your participation in this event.  We are excited to see what amazing artifacts your students produce!
